dc.descriptionThe periodontal disease is the sixth most common disease in the world. People with diabetes are more likely to experience periodontal disease if they’ve had poor blood sugar levels for a long period of time and poorly controlled high glucose level in the mouth fluids help the growth of bacteria and can cause gum disease. The diabetes mellitus is a complicated metabolic disorder characterized by hypofunction or lack of function of the beta cells of the islets of langerhans in the pancreas, leading to high blood glucose levels and excretion of sugar in the urine. Diabetes is the commonest among metabolic disorders and its incidence is on the increase all over the world. It affects 2 to 10% of the human population. Periodontal disease has been labeled as the “Sixth Complication” of diabetes. However, there is no unanimity about the exact relationship between diabetes mellitus and occurrence of periodontal disease.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe relationship between diabetes mellitus and periodontal disease is not clear, even though studied intensively. Like other complications of diabetes, gum disease is linked to diabetic control. People with poor blood sugar control get gum disease more often and more severely, and they lose more teeth than do persons with good control. The study was to clinically evaluate the relationship of diabetes mellitus with periodontal disease and the Results indicated that the prevalence of periodontal disease in diabetic patients was 86.8%.And the aims of study to analysis was used to investigate the relationship between prevalence and severity of periodontal disease and various other factors such as glycemic status, and duration of diabetes mellitus.en_US
