dc.description.abstract | It has been shown that there are gender disparities in pharmaceutical development and response to therapeutic interventions. We evaluated the diuretic effect of oral furosemide in 6 male and 6 female healthy volunteers. One dose of furosemide was administered to each patient. Total urine production was measured over the course of the following 6. Males reduced on average 468.0mL of urine compared to females 367.2mL and there was a significant difference between the treatments in urine output amount (P-0.142) based on urine flow rate. No statistically significant gender different existed. | en_US |
