dc.description | In this report , I will discuss the clinical manifestations of bacterial Meningitis , because bacterial
meningitis is more dangerous than any micro-organisim that causes meningitis and can be deadly .
Meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes (meninges) surrounding your brain and spinal cord.
The swelling from meningitis typically triggers symptoms such as headache, fever and a stiff neck.
Most cases of meningitis in the U.S. are caused by a viral infection, but bacterial and fungal infections are
other causes. Some cases of meningitis improve without treatment in a few weeks. Others can be lifethreatening
and require emergent antibiotic treatment.
Seek immediate medical care if you suspect that someone has meningitis. Early treatment of bacterial
meningitis can prevent serious complications | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Meningitis is an infection that causes inflammation of the membranes (meninges) caused by a bacterial,
viral , fungal or protozoal infection .
The brain and spinal cord are covered by connective tissue layers collectively called the meninges which
form the blood-brain barrier .
The primary functions of the meninges and of the cerebrospinal fluid (produced in and circulating in the
meninges) is to protect, cushion, nourish, and support the brain and spinal cord .
Bacterial and viral are the two most common forms of meningitis . But bacterial meningitis is usually
severe and can even be deadly . Death can occur in as little as a few hours. Most people recover from
meningitis. However, permanent disabilities (such as brain damage, hearing loss ) can result from the
infection | en_US |
